Northern Systema is dedicated to teaching self defense suited for the individual practitioner. All skill levels and styles are welcome. The core of training is taken from the Russian martial art Systema. Train your body to be free of tension, filled with endurance, flexibility, effortless movement and explosive potential. Develop a psyche that is calm, free of anger, irritation, fear, self-pity, delusion and pride. Learn movements that are powerful and precise, instant and economical, spontaneous, subtle and diverse.
SELF DEFENSE
Learn to control your fear, panic and anger in the worse situations in order to survive. Train for the worse case scenarios; over powered, out numbered, attacked with weapons or in a confined space. Learn to use your environment and improvised weapons to gain the advantage. Explore the ethics of using violence, your rights, and legal ramifications. Learn to defend yourself against knifes, sticks and guns.
HAND TO HAND COMBAT
Striking, grappling, ground fighting, escaping from holds, and conditioning the body withstand the rigors of combat. Training progresses in three steps;
1) Education: clear, straight forward explanation and demonstration.
2) Rehearsal: drills slowly progress in speed and intensity.
3) Pressure Testing: Skills are tested in scenario based exercises as realistic as safety allows.
WEAPON TRAINING
The best way to learn defense against a weapon is to master it. Learn its strength and weaknesses, find and exploit its limitations. Sticks, knives and guns are the most common weapons used in violent assaults and as so are incorporated into regular training (not actual firearms, training guns).
