If your looking for a great school with great people look no further. This school teaches Hapkido and is a member of AIMHI . American Institute of Modern Hapkido Instruction. They are a traditional school that teaches Hapkido and not just a mix of various arts. Adults and children train together. Sparing is common. Lots of kicking rolling, falling and joint locks known as soolgis. You will be required to learn some Korean as you progress
North Texas Hapkido and Fitness is a well rounded Hapkido school governed by AIMHI (American Institute of Modern Hapkido Instruction) Instructor Cristina is an excellent teacher and friend. There is no fluff, and you will learn a martial art that is well rounded and can save your life. If you like to spar we usually do it every class in some form or fashion. Like anything depending on your dedication you can learn a lot and always be perfecting your technique. There is testing but this is not a belt/trophy school. You and your instructor decide if feel your ready to move on to new techniques. My son and I have been students for over 8 years and am always learning more. If it is a safe place for you children and family to learn self defense you look for then look no further.
What you will learn.
Kicking
Sparing - Defense, Attacking -Some on ground
Soolgis - (Techniques per belt) - including arm bars, throwing, blocks breaks etc.
Rolling and Falling
Breaking at higher belts
Breathing
Punching
Blocking
Defense
Pressure Points
Disipline
Focus
Korean for all techniques
All classes will attempt to push your limits, but NEVER EVER will you be taken advantage of. I couldn't recommend it more. Instructor Cristina also has a fairly robust Gym next to the Dojo with weights etc.
