It has been a while but the several years there were awesome. I no longer live in New York but I'm still in touch with my Sensei. I miss my Dojo and recently told Sensei if he builds it in Orlando I will come. .....

Whether you're experienced or a novice Bututsukai is a great place to grow. The Sensei will guide you through your journey.

If you live anywhere in the Brooklyn-Queens area this is a Dojo you must consider giving a try, you will not regret it! This is old school Martial Arts training not flashy techniques just extremely effective lessons. This Dojo is a world-class experience and it’s always been that way! I came to Sensei Irving Rodriquez’s New York Bujutsukai Dojo a boy around the age of 10 and left only to serve my country in the United States Military. Sensei Rodriquez’s teachings prepared me to thrive in some of the military’s toughest schools and withstand the pressures of military combat deployment. If you are committed, what you will gain is outstanding physical and mental conditioning that you will use in all aspects of your life. Bottom line if you apply what you learn in this school from these teachers you will be better for it! Sensei Irving Rodriquez is an excellent instructor who cares about his students and the Martial Arts. I would absolutely recommend this Dojo for both new comers and seasoned Martial Artist who want solid instruction.

My time in this school still carries on into my personnel life. Both with compassion and survival skills. Irving Rodriguez is very clear with instructions and does not hold back. I have seen students of all ages excel in this dojo. Also Irving Rodriguez knowledge is shared as long as your willing to learn.

Excellent place to train in traditional matial arts

I have been a student a NY Bujutsukai since 1993 and stopped training in early 1999 due to work and other related family matters but never the less there is no other traditional martial arts training around. I currently live in Orlando, FL and have since returned to the dojo in 2014. I travel every week as much as I can to go and train with Sensei Irving because there is no training like it around. I am fortunate that I work for the airline which allows me to make this journey. When I returned I was accepted back with warm open arms. NY Bujutsukai is my second family and I will continue to train there for as long as I can. Sensei teachings gives me serenity of being able to know and confidence that I will be able to defend myself in real life situations. I have looked around for other schools but there is nothing like it, the tradition and discipline that Sensei brings is like no other. Just making the 950 mile journey to continue training is well worth it because I know I am being properly prepared for any given situation in life. Sensei Irving has turned me into the man I am now and one day hope to bring his teaching to the Orlando FL area. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for place to learn how to defend themselves this is the place to be, you will not regret it.

I'm a returning student who has searched for a school with the same qualities of training in another state & wasn't able to find one. Sensei Irving is a selfless man, a book of knowledge, who teaches self defense and self awareness! You will become part of a family, who train hard and believe in helping others learn and grow. You will build strength, endurance, stamina and confidence. This is a school you will work hard and leave with a sense of accomplishment every single class. This is the best school to learn self defense and much more.

I have been attending classes here for a year and a half and I enjoy going to class. The instructors are very dedicated to helping us learn and it feels like a family. We all help each other to learn and grow and it's a great place to go to learn martial arts because the sensei will only give you your next belt when he feels you have truly learned and are ready to advance.

Through the course of my martial arts journey I have visited and trained in many schools. None come close to matching N. Y. Bujutsukai's combination of discipline, cardio and traditional technique which is taught in a detailed and practical way by Sensei Irving. I have known and trained under Sensei Irving for over 20 years. And he is well respected by his students and his peers alike for being an excellent instructor.

This school has changed my life forever. It has made me a better person physically mentally and spiritually. I feel I could never have had a better instructor. The first day here I was only coming to watch because my husband was training there. I was hooked from that moment on and have chosen to dedicate my life to this school. When my children are old enough I will not hesitate to have them a part of this school as well. I recommend anyone who is interested in this training to come to this school.

My child has been attending for a month already and he is loving it! He's always looking forward to his classes, he has never been so enthusiastic for any other classes that he had attended before. My husband and I are so glad we decided to enroll him at NEW YORK BUJUTSUKAI SCHOOL. It's helping him with his self-defense goals, self-esteem and health. Our child has improve in his personal growth and disciple.

School is directed by an outstanding sensei, experience over 30 years in his not just profession but his passion for Japanese martial arts. His approach to students and everyone in general, is respectfully and humble. All his students are well discipline and respectful.

Located in the heart of Bushwick and accessible to all transportation. It's an hr. travel for us by train and bus but worth the trip! Classes are twice a week for hr. and a half. A very affordable monthly fee. Highly recommended.

I am inspired by the ideals, values, and principles of this particular marital arts school. My instructor, Irving Rodriguez, is certified from well known Japanese organizations with a majority of his own instructors possessing Japanese martial art lineage. My instructor cherishes Japanese culture and exhibits this through having a dojo that is an exact replica of a Japanese dojo. He is very dedicated and meticulous about his students progress and diligently works with every student individually to assure that our form and technique is made to perfection.

I had the honor to train in New York Bujutsukai back in the mid 90's. Under Sensei Irving. The classes were intense with great Cardio, lots of self defense

And sparring. I felt when I trained there I was in the best shape of my life. Unfortunately I had to relocate due to work. I highly recommend this dojo.

A great place to learn a traditional martial art in Brooklyn, NY. Shihan Iriving has all the hallmarks of a great instructor. He is patient, kind, encouraging and motivates you to go the extra mile excellent floor for training with the traditional mats. You get the feel that you are actually in Japan training from the atmosphere of the dojo. I highly recommend this dojo; not many old school training dojos are around anymore but this is one of the few that carry that tradition. I really miss when I'm not able to make it there due to my crazy dynamic work schedule.

This is where I started my martial arts training. This is a very traditional way of training. It’s a great place to learn self-defense and discipline. I still keep in touch with my Sensei even after so many years. If I was still living in NY I will definitely continue my training with New York Bujutsukai.
