I’ve been attending this school for about 5 years, and I am very happy with my decision to train here. The training is excellent, and is Isshin Ryu Karate. You learn all the main empty handed katas first, then you can start your weapons training. The community is wonderful, and I can honestly say this place has become my second home and family.

told they train backwards

No!

i went there to ask about escrima training and was told that they do not do just escrima. they said that they start off teaching you open handed combat and then move you on to the escrima weapons training.

this is backwards as the whole point of escrima/kali/arnis is to train with the weapons and then move on to open handed fighting using the same techniques learned through the weapons training. this is how every other school that ive looked at all over the world (London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, THE PHILIPPINES!!, as well as other places in the states) teach the FMA's this is the only school ive ever heard of doing it backwards as such.

i said this to the man i was talking to and his reply was "well thats how some philppino schools do it but not us." this made me laugh as it is a philippino martial art, id think they know the right order to do it in no?

suffice it to say i wont be training there.
