After-School Program Needs Work

I think the afterschool program needs to be redesigned. They need a bigger space for the kids, instead of putting them in a small room next to the studio. There is only one bathroom which is typically not very clean. I also don’t think the high school students who watch the kids are qualified to handle any kind of emergency situation which makes me feel uneasy. As someone who works in the school system, I’d like to see some kind of indication of childcare licensing too (would be nice to know that background checks are done on the staff, especially on whoever drives the transportation bus). In my opinion, I’m not sure the current set up would pass any kind of state inspection.

Instructors seem knowledgeable, however.

Basically a day care for kids....

Unsure of the adult programs, but the instruction aimed at children falls well short of any serious pursuit of martial arts, and there are far better programs locally which actually teach useful self-defense. If you're looking for a day-care/after-school care to park your kids for a few hours each day then maybe this "school" is for you, but full-disclosure; the kids in after care are normally supervised by other "kids" albeit high school-aged kids who may or may not be over 18 yo. The after care is housed in a cramped office in a storage facility, and its a complete free-for-all type of environment in which the kids run around largely unsupervised until their turn to take part in 30-45 mins of what somewhat resembles taekwondo. The program is more aimed at hooking parents and kids on earning belts rather than teaching martial arts. ...so much so that the program is a bit of a running joke in the local martial arts community. We unfortunately had to learn all of the above the hard way, so hope this review helps others steer clear.

Unprofessional… Disorganized and Unfocused

The instructor needs to focus on instructing and developing the kids rather than getting involved in parental drama. There has been talk outside of this academy that he is showing favoritism towards certain families and has gotten involved in other parents divorce issues. This is nothing a children's martial arts school should be involved in.

I will take my child to another school in town- BullyMeNow… Or any other school which puts their focus on teaching the students TKD and instilling good morals and values in them.

Great School

I had to move out of state due to my job and I have yet found a hapkido school that matches the abilities of this one. My only regret is I did not earn a black belt from this school.

The two masters that instructed here really knew their stuff.

I now take Judo in VA, yet it is fun, it is not the same.

Awesome place to train! My son has really excelled with his training. The instructors are very good at their craft.
