Mt Olive Karate Academy is a great school with instructors that are genuinely interested in helping people learn karate. It focuses on Japanese martial arts (Isshin-Ryu) and includes additional focus in judo, self defense and detailed discussions on how body mechanics can influence the effectiveness of techniques. They teach all age ranges and work well with kids to teach them control, patience and respect. The head instructor/owner is always in the dojo when classes are going on and he is very driven to help his students in any way possible.

A dojo starts with the teacher and Mount Olive Karate Academy has a great teacher who really cares about martial arts and his students. We also have an excellent community of knowledgeable instructors and supportive students. It is a wonderful dojo for all aspects of martial arts and for all student ages. I strongly recommend it to anybody in search of a a better mind-body balance, self defense skills, and a true martial arts path.

Mt. Olive Karate Academy offers training in traditional Okinawan Karate as well as elements of Judo, Kobudo, and general self-defense. Excellent instruction for children and teens looking to develop better self esteem, discipline, coordination, and leadership skills. Adult classes help increase strength, reflexes, balance, and confidence.

Studying the martial arts is so much more than learning to fight. This school offers the whole package.

They teach too much kata and are behind the times so far as combat is concerned. I felt very unsafe about what I was learning. This is for kids only. I decided to get private lessons in a system called Clear Combat Fighting System instead and it is incredible.
