The MSDA is operated by Sensei John Borter, a well-known figure in the martial arts community for over 25 years. Mr. Borter holds a 6th Degree Blackbelt as well as blackbelts and teaching ranks in multiple styles and systems and has been inducted into the World Martial Arts Hall of Fame for “Outstanding Contributions to the Martial Arts”. Sensei Borter founded the MSDA as a format for all people, regardless of age or ability, to learn martial arts for self-improvement, self-empowerment, and self-defense.
The MSDA does not use the traditional system of uniforms, belts, or ranks and instead promotes students within a curriculum that is driven by each student’s own aptitude and attitude. Students at the MSDA enjoy the fun, friendly atmosphere of the classes as much as the seriousness of the training. Students work constructively to help one another through the training process, and they enjoy the camaraderie that comes with training at the Academy.
Here at the MSDA, we specialize in working with people who want the skills and personal development offered through THE martial arts, but who otherwise might not be interested in a traditional martial arts school or the current trend of Mixed Martial Arts.
