Sifu Steve Ventura was born and raised in NYC by Cuban parents. He started my martial arts instruction at the age of 11 in Tae Kwon Do and Hap Ki Do under Pong Ki Kim 9th Dan master. He achieved 3 times State Full Contact and two time national form and Sparring Champion in that art. He went on to study Hung Ga and Bahk Siu Lum under Malaysian instructor Thomas Au Yeung (known as an herbalist). He then went on to study Modern Wushu of China with the NYC Wushu Team. They competed and won many events and even toured Europe and the United States performing on a professional level. They then went Master Dennis Brown to study at the Beijing Physical culture institute. Upon returning from China, he met Grandmaster Chan Tai San and began a long journey to study his Kung Fu. GM Chan was a true student of the martial arts and under him he learned Lama Kung Fu, Choi Lei Fut, Shuai Jiao and San Shou. GM Chan formally adopted him into his lineage and he started the first Lama Kung Fu School in NYC with his training brother Stephen Innocenzi. Lama Kung Fu became a hub more many great martial artists and housed many of the great up and coming teachers that we know now. He has students in over 10 countries teaching the curriculum developed from GM Chan and formulated through years of teaching. He was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to promote Chinese Martial Arts in NYC for the USAWKF and became its first regional President in the North East. They held many events including the first All San Shou / San Da tournament in the country. Having been fortunate enough to carry his teachers love for combat to the ring and have trained many amateur and a few professional champions in the ring sports of Kickboxing, Muay Thai, San Da and Boxing. He is a certified instructor through the North American Chinese Martial Arts Federation (Sifu Tai Yim’s organization). He is certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine in personal training and is a Performance Enhancement Specialist. Sifu Ventura has been actively practicing, competing, teaching Martial Arts for over 30 years. He then became an official with the USKBA, (Paul Rosner R.I.P.) and has traveled promoting combat arts all over the United States and trained fighters to compete overseas.
