Please know that the solitary one star comment noted on this review page is absolutely true but pertains to the Mattevi Academy in Superior Wisconsin; not Greensboro North Carolina. Mr Mattevi left the Academy in Superior Wisconsin 5 years ago and the honorable and true black belt culture that is who he is left with him. Please note that the Greensboro Mattevi Martial Arts Academy is the path to a true black belt that has it's origin in the great Grand Masters of past and will forever be this way. God Bless the Mattevi Greensboro Martial Arts Academy- the Best of the Best !

This academy is a money making institution that has little interest in the quality of the instruction. The instructors promote beliefs they do not follow or demonstrate to their students. I am aware of the history of Mattevi's school and past schools. At one time this organization promoted solid martial arts, but in an effort to be more profitable, has engaged in a number of short cuts diminishing its programming. Promotion is often a matter of payment or politics, not ability. I feel badly about the black belts promoted and their belief that they are well trained martial artists.

My son has been studying traditional Karate at Mattevi's Martial Arts Academy for one year now and we have nothing but great to things to say about Master Mattevi and his academy. The classroom environment and training philosophy are serious and highly focussed but also warm and friendly. Master Mattevi not only really knows his stuff but is fantastic with kids. We hope to continue to watch our son grow over the years into a more confident and successful student of Karate. This is really worth the investment.

My son started as a Mini Ninja last year and continues to enjoy attending classes with Master Mattevi. This instructor truly understands how active young children, especially boys can be, but balances fun and discipline to engage all students! When my son moved from one age/skills group to the next, Mr. Mattevi clearly raised his expectations while providing the right amount of support he needed.

I cannot thank master mattevi enough for the skills and life lessons he has taught my kids!!!! This is the place to send your kids!!!! He is worth every penny!
