Nick preaches respect, family and all these good core values and pretends to care about your children, however if you stick around after class you might get a glimpse of his real personality when he is talking to his employees. The reality is he is just a businessman putting on a show while on the floor, mostly targeted towards the parents. I ran a background check and it turns out that he has a CRIMINAL RECORD. He also lost his old school "Family Karate" (now called "Brunswick Martial Arts and Fitness") to his ex wife. Please please continue to do your research and find some place else to take your children, I feel like this guy can snap at any moment. Look past the act.

Does not meet even basic safety needs for a karate school

I am an actual parent of two students at this school, not a business rival. I think this will be evident from the story I have to relate below.
Whenever someone takes a particularly hard hit, "Master" Nick likes to remind everyone with his characteristic smug, self-congratulatory expression that "this is not ballet class, it's karate. " That's a great sound-bite, but he doesn't seem to take safety seriously at all. Last night, my son injured his ankle when he and his sparring partner threw kicks simultaneously. It's karate, it happens. But instead of having ice packs on hand, Nick had his instructors take turns getting wet paper towels from the bathroom to put on an injured ankle. When I approached Nick after class about the fact that he teaches a contact sport and he doesn't have something as basic as an ice pack available, he unapologetically said that he used to have them but he ran out and he'll order more. Funny how he doesn't seem to run out car magnets for us to advertise his school. By the way, his neighboring business is a PHARMACY, so it's even more absurd that he doesn't have basic first aid on hand. If he runs out, he should go next door and buy what he needs, no excuses. And other businesses in the complex include a restaurant and a grocery store. So I asked why he didn't just ask one of them for ice when a student was injured. Admittedly, I was getting pretty loud at this point because of his smug, unapologetic attitude. So classy Nick just called me childish and told me to leave, then turned his back to me. Shame on me for expecting this guy to treat a parent and paying customer with any respect. He doesn't practice what he preaches to the kids.

As a parent you cannot help but watch and smile the entire class. Master Nick and his instructors teach discipline and respect all the while the children are having fun. Master Nick's caring approach to each child is evident in their smiles and is clear they love him as they do not want to leave when class is over.
I cannot comprehend the earlier reviews and could only imagine they have been posted from local competitors as it's not what I see every week when I come.

My 6 year old son attended Master Nick Karate. Some days he is tired and instead of encouraging him, Nick used to take him out of class and yell at him in front other parents and kids n make my son cry
My son still wanted to learn Karate so I continue to take him as we signed a contract. But one day, this man who calls himself Master Nick verbally abused him so much in front of me and other parents and talked so bad about my 6 year old son in front of other parents, I told him to break the contract and stop abusing children. He is a horrible teacher and tries to preach good things but in reality he is a poor example of a teacher
If you care for your child's self esteem please be careful going to Master Nick Karate.

My 6 year old son was attending Master Nick's Karate and thought I was getting the character education I wanted for my child. But during an incident one day when master Nick was reprimanding his program director in front of parents and students I was appalled, he showed little respect for his employee "that's bad for business". After that day my child never wants to go back to karate; please do your research before going to Master Nick's.

not good for kids
My son loves going to Master Nick's Karate. Master Nick blends the right amount of learning and discipline with plenty fun and it shows on all the smiles on the kids faces.
