Serious Instruction in a Family Environment

Master Amy Reed, Sensei Jason Reed, and their staff have done an amazing job of combining serious real world instruction with an atmosphere of acceptance, accountability and personal responsibility. Their dojo is the only one I have come across that does not award belt ranks unless they are earned. They are there for their students, and it shows in the results.

Master and Sensei Reed have built a dojo that is completely consistent with their mission statement; "Building a better community, one black belt at a time"

And I am so very happy that my son and I are part of their dojo family.

Master Amy Reed's Black Belt Academy is a family oriented Tae Kwon Do facility that trains a person to be not only a talented martial artist, but a wonderful person as well. With a new power word each month, you (or your child) will learn patience, responsibility, fairness, and many other character building traits. Master Reed has more honor and integrity than anyone I know, and Sensei Reed is energetic, encouraging, and efficient. Each instructor is helpful and knowledgeable, and their uniqueness allows for a completely thorough learning experience. My son has gained confidence, personal dignity, and self-respect since beginning classes here, and after his first testing, I was so moved by his experience that I signed up for classes myself. The open schedule allows for us to take classes together on Family Training night as well as separately in order for us to get instruction according to our age-specific needs. This schedule also allows for even the busiest family to attend classes. The environment is clean, well-lit, and friendly, and Master Reed has often given up personal gain in order to maintain a harmonious, peaceful environment conducive to learning. Of this, I am thankful, as my son now thinks of the dojo as another home full of friends and role models for whom I am grateful are in his life. And as a person who is always striving to better herself in every attribute possible, I find my instructors role models as well, and I am proud to wear our uniform.

Dear Public: As the owners of the Black Belt Academy, we have had the misfortune of having to deal with negative and hurtful personal attacks being posted on public forums by whom we believe is a former member who we asked not to return to our facility following customer complaints that this person was negative and disruptive to others at our facility. We value our relationships with our current members and are a serious studio dedicated to the strict practice of martial arts. We teach discipline and respect and a high standard of ethics. We will not tolerate conduct from any member that is contrary to the practice of martial arts, as exemplified by this person's own abusive posts. Moreover, it would be unfair to our current members who have dedicated and invested themselves in our Academy to do so. We hope that the public and future members will consider our unwillingness to put revenues above the standards we teach and our current members as a positive in deciding whether to consider our studio. If you are considering our studio, we invite you to take a tour of our facility, meet us personally, and speak with our current members to allow you to form your own opinion. We also hope that the person who is posting negative and hurtful personal attacks will consider the power of words and reconsider their actions.

My daughter went to this school for 6 months and then asked to leave. The other kids were not listening and were disruptive to the class. The owners would only let me freeze my account but would not let us out of our contract. If they are so confident of their school, they should let people join on a month to month basis.

My son has been with Master Amy Reed's Black Belt Academy for 5-6 years now and he loves it just as much now as he did then. We started his traing when he was 4 years old at another school and decided that wasn't for us and chose to look around at other schools. We chose Master Amy Reed's Black Belt Academy and very glad we did. My son is 12 Years old and will soon be a 2nd degree adult black belt. He is also in the leadership program learning as a junior leader what it takes to become a great instructor. My son has awesome grades in school and has learned self confidence, respect, self defense, etc... and I have all the instructors at Master Amy Reed's Black Belt Academy to thank for that.

This black belt academy is the best. My son first started up soccer at Jupiter high school a year ago and has become very bored with the sport and falling behind in school. After having a sit down talk with Jesse, we decided to switch things up a bit by taking karate instead. Master Amy Reeds Black Belt Academy was recommended to us by a close friend, so we decided to make the 15 minute drive to Stuart from Jupiter. After being in karate for four months, Jesse's grades became better than ever and the group of kids he made friends with at the karate school were well-rounded and all very respectful. Not only can I feel safe in the Jesse will be learning self defense, but I can also be sure that he is learning responsibility, respect, and also surrounding himself with people of high morals. Master Reed and Sensei Reed as well as all of the instructors at the academy go above and beyond.

Master Amy Reed's Black Belt Academy is a wonderfully positive place for people of all ages to grow and learn. My son is special needs and we have received nothing but support and understanding from every person at the academy. From day one they have been accommodating of his needs and willing to think outside the box to engage him. They have worked hard to keep him in the program. He is excited every time he steps in the door and each lesson works to build his self confidence. In a world that doesn’t always accept him as he is, this is monumental to both of us. They are dedicated to fostering a sense of family and strive to build strong, positive leaders. I personally can not thank them enough for their caring and support. GO check them out, GO see who they are, GO be part of the family at Master Amy Reed's Black Belt Academy. You’ll be glad you did. We are!

My family and I have been to numerous karate schools while moving around the state of Florida. I was pleasantly surprised to find a karate school in such a great location and with such a great atmosphere. The classes are out of this world! Instruction is great... I mean Master Reed has been teaching for decades & her staff is definitely following in her footsteps. WIth such prestigious instructors and an amazing vicinity... This is the academy I've been dreaming of! Especially since they have a lovely juice bar, retail store, lounge, play area, and lounge for all of the parents waiting for classes to end. I always do my paperwork while my girls are in class. I highly recommend this Academy to everyone in Stuart, Palm City, Jensen Beach, Hobe sound, Jupiter, and even as far as Miami!

AMAZING place to train in Martin County

Master Amy Reed's Academy is by far the largest martial arts facility around but that is NOT what makes it amazing. Master Reed puts a lot of time and money into maintaining the Academy and ensuring that she has the most current and proper equipment to assist her students with their training.

The Academy has qualified, ADULT intructors who are constantly receiving their own training as students as well as instructors. Both Master and Sensei Reed have been elected (several times) to the USMAA (United States Martial Artist Association) HALL OF FAME! As of February, 2011 two of their instructors (Sensei Kimberlie Massnick and Sensei Crystal Radcliff) have also been elected to the HALL OF FAME! That speaks volumes!!!

The Academy offers training to adults and children. There are separate classes as well as a famly class wear parents can train with their children.

I love this place....come and check it out!

BEST Martial Arts Academy in Florida and quite possibly the world. Awesome students. Amazing facility. Highest integrity. I have taught at several studios and can honestly say that Master Amy Reed's Black Belt Academy is far ahead of its time in program development and in dealing with the issues of today. I am a father and a grandfather and know of the dangers that exist out there in the world. My daughters are all Black Belts of this Academy and I couldn't be happier or more proud. I love being a student and instructor there and I love hanging out in the lounge area with other parents and students. You have got to check this place out.

My 15 year old son is a student and training to be an instructor (it takes years to become an instructor) and my wife IS an instructor at Master Amy Reed's Black Belt Academy so this unfavorable and completely FALSE review upset me. This business does not revolve around making money as they do a lot of community service work. One way they give back to the community is matching students in need with local sponsors - whether it be a local business or an Academy member. Master Reed maintains a positive atmosphere and does not tolerate inappropriate attitudes or behavior in her facility. I Check out the Academy and it's staff and you will see that it is the place I trust to train my wife and keep her and our son safe. That is the highest endorsement I can give it!

I walked in to sign my child up for tkd and was ignored for about 10 minutes. They were busy selling pop and cookies to kids. Very healthy example. The owner gives a good talk- but could barely fit in her uniform. kids were playing but didn't see anyone doing martial arts. they wanted a year contract. we tried one class but then would not let you pay monthly. very expensive.

I just have to say this place is the best thing that has happened to my family! My daughter loves it here! The best part is, that this place doesn't tolerate negative attitudes. Master Reed and her staff create a fun, positive atmosphere to train in. They are always there to support and willing to help out each child with anything that they may need. I highly recommend to EVERYONE!
