The Filipino Martial Arts - Kali / Eskrima / Arnis / Silat
The Filipino martial arts are a weapon based art, they place a heavy emphasis on the use of weapons. The Filipino martial arts primary weapon is the stick/sword, through study of the motion of the stick/sword we translate and apply that movement to the application and use of other weapons as well as to empty hands. This is a sophisticated and comprehensive martial art that involves empty hands (kicking, punching, joint locking, sweeping & throwing), single stick/sword, double stick/sword, single knife, double knife, stick/sword & knife, etc.
Jun Fan Gung-Fu / Jeet Kune Do
Jun Fan Gung-Fu is the martial art developed by Bruce Lee. Jun Fan, or Lee Jun Fan is the Chinese name of Bruce Lee and is a set curriculum. Jun Fan Gung-Fu includes kickboxing, trapping, joint locking, sweeps, throws, and falls.
Jeet Kune Do is the martial arts philosophy developed by Bruce Lee. The guiding principle of this revolutionary art is personal growth and continued research and development. Emphasizing the different ranges of combat. Students are taught to flow from long (kicking-range), to middle (hand-range), to close (trapping & grappling range).
Classes
The classes will focus mainly on Filipino martial arts and Jun Fan Gung Fu. Although, in keeping with the JKD philosophy there will be elements of other martial arts included in the curriculum to help make the student a more well rounded martial artist. Some of the other arts that we will draw from are Savate/Boxe Francaise (French kickboxing), Hapkido, and Taekwondo.
