Reviews of Marquez Martial Arts Academy: San-Jitsu Ryu

I highly recommend Marquez Martial Arts Academy. All four of my children ages, 35, 33, 19, and 18 have gone and continue to go to this academy and thoroughly enjoyed it. My son started us off when he was 17 and I joined him. I was intimidated at first being out of shape, 53 years old, but always had an interest. I can only say I LOVE IT. The instruction can’t be beat. Do they work you hard? Yes but as Shihan Chris always says "listen to your body" there is no competition against one another only against yourself and what you want to achieve. You work your way up and you will be astounded by what you can achieve. It’s not about being a physically strong person it’s all about learning the technique to achieve the desired results which may save your life one day. It gives you respect, self-esteem, confidence, discipline and a whole lot of pride.

I have not only trained, but worked at other dojos. Through my years of being in this sport, I have never met an instructor more empowering, more encouraging or more supportive than Sensei Chris Marquez. He trains the mind, body and the soul and leads by amazing example. Not only am I a student, but I am also a parent of 3 students. Respect and discipline are two major values for any system in this sport. These are values Sensei Chris Marquez and his wife Jill take very seriously. They exude the utmost respect at all times to every student, including each child. It is a beautiful and moving sight to watch them in action with my children. This is their passion and their gift. I am honored and proud to be a part of the San-Jitsu Ryu family, even more so to call Marquez Martial Arts Academy our home.
