Guro Phil and Malay are the real deal. He moves like a true escrimador. There are places out there that claim they are doing FMA, but Guro Phil has both the skill and credentials. Don't take a recommendation for a reference, stop in and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed.

Having witnessed the outstanding instruction and care that Guro Phil and the support staff at Malay Combat Systems provide and instill, it is very difficult for me not to tell everybody and every martial artist I know. Every level; novice through advanced; as an experienced martial artist, there is definitely volumes of information to process coming from the MCS library! Angles, footwork, trapping, striking, locking, rolling, standard and improvised weaponry, knife work 2nd to none! I will come and drag you from your house to get you to a class if necessary, just get there and get some!

Guru Phil is an outstanding Martial Artist and excellent instructor. As a Correctional Officer I was looking for a practical and effective system to train in. Here at Malay Combat Systems I found that and much more. Guru Phil teaches us a unique blend of Kali, Silat and Muay Thai. We learn both weapons and empty hand techniques, and how to fight in all ranges of combat. The martial arts program here at Malay Combat Systems is awesome. I highly recommend it for anyone who is serious about learning to defend their self.

Having only been with Malay Combat Systems for around six months I have learned a lot. The keep your ego at the door is what keeps me going. You do not belong to a gym or dojo but instead you become part of a family. There are no greater group of people to train with. I would highly recommend if you are in the area to check it out.

I have taken a weekend Silat couse with Phil, and the instruction was top notch. I will be attending other events hosted by Dragon Gym. They are the best.

I have had the privilege of training with Guro Phil Matedne for over four years now in the art of Muay Thai.
