Makoto Kai Judo was formed by students and instructors from the former Ogden Judo School, with the sole purpose of spreading our love and appreciation for all aspects of Judo. Makoto is one of the seven principles of Bushido, which was the code of honor and morals developed by the Japanese samurai. Makoto literally means sincerity or a true heart, free from falsehood. Ancient samurai took this to mean doing the right thing at the right time regardless of living or dying. In Judo we train our minds and bodies to become one with each other. It is through this training that we are able to lift the veil of doubt and fear so that the judoka can move freely without restraints and become Makoto.
