Maine Kaizen Dojo offers safe, qualified, and structured training in Japanese jujutsu. We emphasize the study and exploration of traditional jujutsu, modern grappling arts, practical self defense and sports psychology.
The Teachings
Taijutsu (unarmed combat techniques) are grouped into several categories:
- Koshijutsu : a method of attacking tendons, ligaments, nervous and muscular systems using the extremities of the bones.
- Koppojutsu : a method that utilizes the strengths and weaknesses of the bone structure.
- Dakentaijutsu : a combat method originating from koppojutsu and koshijutsu employed in the context of close combat.
- Jutaijutsu : a combat method that originates from koppojutsu and koshijutsu and includes grappling, control strategies, dislocations, throws, strangulations, ground work, and counters and evasions against opponents techniques.
- Taihenjutsu : a method of active positioning that skillfully uses movement of the body and evasions, controlled falls, rolls and jumps.
- Heiho : the art of war or combat strategy
- Mokuso : a method that allows to become aware of the mind and body.
