Since 1999, the Little Rock Aikido Club has taken an open, and often playful, approach to the martial arts. While our techniques and principles are very real and efficient for self defense application and we do focus on self-defense and increasing survivability, this is not our primary goal in teaching and practice. Aikido is much deeper than merely self defense, and takes a good deal of time and dedication in order to advance. In time, you will begin to recognize Aikido's harmonious influence in your daily life. Additionally, while there is certainly a very spiritual impact through Aikido, it is not a religion, nor is there a religious component to our training. Our members come from many faiths and religious backgrounds, none of which conflict with their Aikido experiences, and all of which are wholly welcomed.
Please feel free to contact any of the "dan" ranks (black belt and above) to join the class and meet our family. We look forward to seeing you!

Our classes are held in Suite 900 of the University Plaza shopping center. The dojo is located behind the UALR Police Department and accessed through the double glass doors between the Police Dept. and Harbor Freight Tools labeled, "Suite 900".
The Little Rock Aikido Club is affiliated with the Kaze Uta Budo Kai headed by Nick Lowry, sensei of the Windsong Dojo in Oklahoma City.
Through a joint leadership dynamic, five dan-ranked instructors teach a non-competitive form of Tomiki-based Aikido, some Judo, and have recently begun including some Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu elements. Anyone 16 years of age or older is welcome to train.
All current senseis at the LRAC have a minimum of eight years experience in Aikido. Additionally, we have two certified police officers teaching in our ranks. Our senseis emeritus are Dr. Peder Jensen (7th Dan with over 15 years’ experience) and Vernon Dutton (4th dan). Senseis Jensen and Riva's sensei is Dr. Clif Norgaard, who has over 50 years’ experience with martial arts and is a 9th Dan in Aikido and a 9th Dan in Judo.
