I have been to a couple of different dojo to study in the last couple of years. No even comes close to the real basic study of the Martial Arts as the Lincoln Budokan, No black belt in 2 years at this dojo. Get ready to work hard and spend the 5 to 10 years it takes to get a Shotokan Karate black belt. Its not easy, but its worth it.

Thanks Sensei Holmes

My son who is now 10 started with Sensi Holmes about 4-5 years ago. The first 3 years we would attend twice weekly.

Mr. Holmes offers classes 4 evenings a week which works great for us. My son is on a baseball team so there are lots of games and practices. By offering his students 4 evenings of instruction, we can always get there at least once per week.

Mr. Holmes does such a great job with the kids. With his teaching of karate he works on focus, discipline, self defense, excercise, etc, etc. What is great is he still keeps if fun for the kids so they can stay interested.

We have been very pleased with the instruction we have recieved and wouldn't consider going anywhere else to learn.

Thanks for the great work at Lincoln Budokan.

I have visited many other Dojo's in the Lincoln area. Not only is the price lower for this Dojo but the instruction is superior in every way. Not only do they learn control and discipline but how to use it, when to use it and what it means to carry this knowledge. Another astonishing thing is that the instructor teaches at the level of the student, both age and skill level. He is skilled in teaching, instruction and multiple forms of martial arts.

I have always believed that the teacher is what brings the students to achieve their full potential. I believe that my children will reach their full potential in this Dojo! I see and believe it so much that I am going to join the adults class.

My 14 year old loves going!

My 14 year old didn't have much interest in anything other than video games. Since starting karate with Sensei Holmes, first at the YMCA, now at Lincoln Budokan, he wants to go as often as we can accommodate into our schedule. Sensei is tough, and really teaches the kids self discipline. I highly recommend for anyone trying to find something their child might be interested in or for children that have no idea of self discipline!

I have two children that currently take Shotokan Karate from Sensei Holmes. The oldest has been in his classes for 3 years and the youngest for a year. My children are involved in several other actives through out the year, yet the boys continue to take karate year round. Since Karate is not a seasonal sport the kids have a continuous focus on the katas taught at each level. As the kids achieve a new ranking, a new belt color is awarded for all their hard work. The achievement is a huge deal at the dojo and for each of the kids on an individual level as well as the class as a whole. My children have learned that self discipline and hard constant work will end in reward for them and fulfillment in the eyes of Sensei Holmes. I have seen the remarkable improvement of the boys from their first weeks as white belts to where they stand in the ranking they have today. Karate is just as rewarding as a parent to see the kids grow in the class, as it for the kids to learn leadership, respect, and importance of following the rules and the fact that Sensei Holmes is proud of his students and what they have learned from his teaching. I believe that in karate what they have learned will spill into their lives outside of class and benefits all they aspect of their lives.

Sensei Holmes has been a great instructor and role model for my children. I love that my daughter has learned how to respect and follow directions so much better. I couldn't ask for a better teacher
