If you are planning on enrolling your kids to this school stop and read on. After 5 years of serving in Germany and Korea (US Marines), I was excited to get back to Southern California. I was even more excited when I learned that my nephew started taekwondo, being a black belt in taekwondo myself I wanted to see my nephew do the sport and martial arts I love, my sister even told me that the week that I was visiting is his schools tournament. I now live in San Diego, so I drove to Foothill Ranch in Orange County to see my nephew in class and tournament, my excitement turned into concern, without streching or remotely close to that they started kicking and doing tumbling exercises, they did not care about form - how the feet should be positioned, the Master (if can even call him that) just want it fast. I told my sister my observation and was told that my nephew like the class. That Saturday was the school tournament, the events were forms and board breaking, in the forms a lot of kids did not even know their respective forms and I don't know if they are punching or blocking, average high kick was waist level. I got excited to see little girl about 5 years old who was already a blue belt but got dismayed when she did not perform her form well not even at a yellow belt level and she was suppose to be a high belt. There were good kids but the ratio was about 1 for every 5. Even the demo team was liturgic at best, one black belt took 7 attempts to break a board doing a jumping 360, an 8 year old green belt can do that in Korea or in any other school in OC with ease. In the board breaking event the focus was the gimmick after the board breaking instead of breaking the board, 75% did not break their boards. After what I've seen, I told my sister to get my nephew out of this school before he hurts himself. They need to go to a doyang where they will learn real taekwondo which they won't be able to do in this McDoyang
