Specialties
Learning Center for Martial Arts has been teaching self defense to Mansfield, Norwood, and the surrounding towns for over 30 years. We specialize in karate for children and a variety of self defense for adults including Tai Chi, Womens' Self Defense, Pressure Point Fighting, and Special Needs Karate.
History
Established in 1980.
Learning Center began as an offshoot of a Shotokan school. After many years studying Kenpo, Jui Jitsu, Pressure Points, and Tai Chi, our style American-Te was developed.
John Hagman and Cody Robyn took over the Norwood location is 2003, joining it with their Mansfield School, which had been under their ownership since 1997. LCMA Canton was opened at Excel Studios in 2014.
Meet the Business Owner
Cody Robyn- Business Owner
'Shihan' Cody Robyn is co-owner and Master Instructor of the Learning Center for Martial Arts, co-founder of American-Te, and developer of various programs and curriculum, including the Special Needs Program. Cody began his training in 1986.
Cody worked hard and became one of the most consistent and reliable brown belts at LCMA. At age 15, he began assisting in all of the children's and adult classes at the Norwood Dojo. Having achieved his black belt in 1986, he was asked to take over the Mansfield Dojo, with John Hagman in early 1997.
One of Cody's most proud achievements is the creation of the LCMA Special Needs program. This program aims to instruct all students, regardless of physical, social, or cognitive disabilities. Students learn an adapted curriculum that teaches self defense, physical fitness, coordination, awareness, and self control.
Shihan Cody Robyn is a Master Level Instructors and can be seen regularly at both LCMA Norwood, LCMA Mansfield, and LCMA Canton.
