I took a week of free classes here. While I did enjoy the instruction and facilities, some of the practices worried me. As a former student of a traditional dojo, I have specifics that I look for. When I read their information packet I noticed a listed "Black Belt Training Course. " This course is a 24 month course. Any school which offers a Black Belt in 2-3 years is not really training the karateka the way he ought to be trained. Also, they asked for the signing of a year contract. While they promised that one could break the contract by paying 1/3 of the remainder, there was no such clause listed in the contract. Be aware when you see these practices. Take the time to find traditional ways. They are more difficult, but worth the sacrifice.
