Lance England Martial Arts at The University of Tennessee
Master Lance England is the Senior Instructor for the Isshin-Ryu Karate and Satori-Ryu School of Swordsmanship Classes at the University of Tennessee. He holds the ranks of 7th Degree Black Belt in Isshin-Ryu Karate, 5th Degree Black Belt in Satori-Ryu Iaido, 4th Degree Black Belt in Seishenryokyu Karate and 3rd Degree Black Belt in Muso-Shindo Jodo. Master England has also been inducted into the United States Martial Arts Hall of Fame, the World Sokeship Council’s International Martial Arts Hall of Fame for Contributions to Isshin-Ryu Karate and the Universal Martial Arts Federation’s Hall of Fame as the Weapons Instructor of the Year. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Pre-Physical Therapy from Maryville College and has published two books and fifteen magazine articles on Athletic Injuries, Personal Training, Military Marksmanship and the Martial Arts. Master England is an Army Veteran of Desert Storm in which he served as a Combat Medic and has also been a Basic Training Instructor, Combat Marksmanship Instructor and Competitor having achieved 7th place nationally, 2nd at the regional level and 3rd at the state level.
As an Instructor at the University of Tennessee he has developed several programs for the Personal and Professional Development Department. These include “In Control By Choice” which is a program developed specifically for women who wish to take responsibility for their own safety and life direction; also “Total Lifestyle Control” for individuals who wish to direct their own fitness program, diet and lifestyle.
Master England has credit classes and non-credit classes in Isshinryu Karate, Satori-Ryu Iaido, Modern Combatives and Muso-Shindo Jodo for adults and children at the University of Tennessee. Students of Master England have excelled by being inducted into the International Martial Arts Federation’s Hall of Fame as well as International and National Championships. Students have also excelled as individuals going on to develop their own Martial Arts Programs at such institutions as East Tennessee State University and the Military Academy at West Point. Other students have gone on to enter the fields of Medicine, Law, Law Enforcement and Military Service.
