The Bujinkan is an international martial arts organization based in Japan and started by Soke Masaaki Hatsumi. The combat system taught by this organization comprises nine separate schools, which are collectively referred to as Bujinkan Budō Taijutsu. The Bujinkan is most commonly associated with ninjutsu. Masaaki Hatsumi uses the term Budo (meaning “martial way”) as he says the ryūha (schools) are descended from historical roots that teach martial tactics from samurai, Chinese, and ninjutsu schools, that teach ninja tactics.
Taijutsu (body/movement in combat) is the Bujinkan system of unarmed defense using strikes, throws, holds, chokes and joint locks.
