Sensei Chuck Nuccio is one of the top practitioners of Okinawan Go Ju Ryu - kenkyukai in the country. .. and among the leaders in the world. He follows Sensei Taira of Okinawa who keeps the art of self-defense research alive and tours the world to share his knowledge.

Sensei Chuck is dedicated to helping every karate student work at their pace to achieve their best. He is known for his ability to help students understand the purpose behind each move and achieve more with the own karate practice.

An amazing traditional karate dojo with heart

My now 7 year old son started at Kokoro more than a year ago after we stumbled upon it during one of the town fairs, and given his fantastic experiences there, we enrolled our 5 year old daughter this year. The space itself is the very picture of a Japanese karate dojo, with a good-sized open space, polished hardwood floors, wall mirrors, various punching bags, and even old-school training implements like makiwaras and stone hammers. The space is well-maintained and always very clean. But the greatest asset of the dojo is its owner, Chuck Nuccio. Sensei Nuccio is a dedicated martial artist who has a real passion for both practicing and teaching martial arts, constantly furthering his own training and passing on his enthusiasm to his students. He has a real rapport with the kids he teaches and deftly balances having fun with the discipline needed to learn the art. The art itself, Goju karate, is both powerful and refined, mixing both direct movements common in karate styles with more circular movements common to Chinese martial arts. Sensei Nuccio is a dedicated practitioner of Goju and actively trains, himself, occasionally making trips back to Okinawa where the art originated to further his training. In short, you could not wish for a better traditional karate dojo. I myself train in a separate martial art, but if I weren't already at another school, I would enroll at Kokoro in a heartbeat. This place is the real deal.
