I have studied traditional Shotokan Karate-do for 30 plus years and due to various reasons relocated to Lake Elsinore. When I first moved to the Diamond Valley area six years ago there were no traditional Shotokan dojo's, so imagine my surprise and joy as I discovered Kobushi Shotokan Karate-do almost five months ago while surfing the net. Larsen Sensei is an excellent instructor and not only teaches karate in the traditional manner, but also has a way of keeping the classes fresh, interesting, and fun. I am recommending this dojo to everyone I can think of!

This Karate Dojo is the best in the area. It really teaches self defense and not aggression. The sensei(teacher) is just the perfect combination of strictness and kindness. The techniques used are great for everyone; he uses hands-on fixing, visual imagery, and even promotes doing the katas (series of karate steps)with eyes closed. These techniques along with the emphasis on students listening (being silent) have really helped my son. My son started as a very uncoordinated, talkative child.....now he is very coordinated...BUT most of all he can focus in silence and not just on karate. I just cannot say enough about Kobushi Shotokan Karate Dojo and Sensei Larson. This is because this kind of discipline seeps over into all areas of life...it is a great tool for self mastery in everything from school-work to basic self-control. What a blessing it has been in our lives!
I recommend to everyone.

Sensei is wonderful with kids. My son has been going there for 10 months now. After visiting other dojo's, we picked this one. Focus is on karate, no distractions of boxing, weight lifting or arobic, etc. Sensei is focused on teaching karate. Classes all week long, to fit anyones schedule. Big new location, come check it out. Mona, Kobushi Shotokan Karate Parent.

We moved to Temecula and I have been looking for a martial arts school for my son for over a year. I've found one less than 1 mile from my home but they charged more for less class time.Karate is about the learning, the instruction, and the honor and tradition. Sensi Larsen teaches the old school way. His values and his integrity is exactly what a parent should be hoping to find in an instructor. My son has learned so much from Sensi and Karate. He takes this attitude and made it a way of life. He stands up for smaller kids at school and I'm told how helpful he is. We will never leave Kobushi Karate.tY
When we moved to Temecula, we were looking for a Karate class for our daughter. We are glad that we found Kobushi dojo. Our 10 year old daughter has been going to the dojo for more than 2 years and she has been learning and enjoying Karate! The Sensei is great with kids; he makes sure that the kids learn and also disciplines them when needed. We have put our son also in Karate. He started his classes at the age of 4; he has been learning in the dojo for more than a year and he looks forward to each of his classes! We can see improvements in both our kids. Overall we are very happy with Kobushi dojo and we have & will recommend the dojo to our friends.
