Stay away, don't waste your time

No!

Instructor is very good natured and has the best of intentions, but has no true or real background in actual fighting. In training, he himself never "goes to ground", or is willing to, in order to teach techniques to completion. It is more of a "club" as opposed to a "school". Instructor does not actively pursue, nor had he actively pursued his own growth as a martial artist / aikido stylist, for more than a decade. The instructor is not actively involved in the parent organization of his art (Somewhat understandable, given that the parent organization declared themselves a "Religion", for tax purposes). No "real world" self-protection / defense is taught. The instructor does not, or perhaps refuses in some way to, recognize the realities and horrors of true self-protection / defense. No weapons defense is taught. No real world "street application" scenarios are taught. Instructor did not see the weaknesses in his own techniques! (I have over 30 years martial arts training in multiple arts, including another style of Aikido and Aikijujitsu - prior to training at this "school"). Stay away from this school, look elsewhere in the Greater Capital Region for competent "true" self-protection / defense training.
