I have taken classes with Sensei Jolicoeur at his Lovell location. He is a great teacher offering excellent training in the art of Jiu Jitsu. Sensei Jolicoeur gives precise instruction that helps the student understand the effect and reason for each movement. He is a master in instructing joint locks, strikes, and weapons defense. He keeps the Japanese origin encompassed in the class environment by having students learn some of the Japanese language and educating students on the history of Jiu Jitsu. Sensei Jolicoeur is a very competent instructor and I highly recommend him for anyone interested in learning self defense.

Greetings,
The good Professor is a product of a lineage of Ju Jitsu dating dating back to the early 1960s in both the states of New York and Rhode Island. I am Raymond A. Fitzpatrick, 2nd inheritor of the Nisei Ju Jitsu system of New York (2012). The Ki-Do-Ryu organization, the Nisei Ju Jitsu system and others formed the Kyudan Ju Jitsu Federation and all have interacted with one another since the late 1960s.
Prof. Mike is not only a talented practitioner / instructor, but also a gentle person of quality whom I highly recommend for tutelage in the martial arts. Remember, you must choose your teacher wisely as you are putting your BODY, MIND AND SPIRIT into his hands for development. Examine all schools so you can compare the skills and lineage of the instructors and make a prudent decision.
Yours in Budo,
Raymond A. Fitzpatrick, M.C.S., Iemoto

Having the honor and privilege to train under Shihan Mike for many years I can honestly tell you that you will not find a more competent and skilled martial arts instructor anywhere, the art of Ki ~Do~ Ryu is a very street based art that that focuses on real world self defense and not a competitive sport. If you want to learn martial arts from a true martial artist Shihan Mike is the man.

I have just under 40 years experience in martial arts. I know this instructor well. He is very well qualified. This is an excellent, well rounded style of martial art. This instructor has a no-ego approach to training and teaching. I would send my family and friends here in a heartbeat. The only reason I don't still train with him is that he moved to Maine, and I am still in Rhode Island.

Sensei Mike Jolicour is an excellent instructor of the Kito Ryu Style.
Kito Ryu is a very traditional style that uses the concept of minimum effort but maximum effect.
Respect of the martial arts is evident when learning this style.

I have known Professor Mike for 32 years. He and I started studying at the same time in the same style of Jiu-Jitsu. Professor Jolicouer is very qualified, knowledgeable, and dedicated Martial Artist. The style he and I teach is a combat style that is very proficient. I would recommended this Dojo to anyone that is interested in learning a system that works for male, female and young adults equally. This style is also very traditional and shows much respect to the style, instructor and history of Jiu-Jitsu. If you are a dedicated person who is serious about self discipline and techniques that work in multiple situations this is the style for you. Professor Jolicouer is also in Federations that you cannot just tell them who you are, or what your knowledge base is. Professor Mike has had to demonstrate his knowledge and ability each time he is eligible for promotion. As the President of the Kyudan Jiu-Jitsu I highly recommend this Dojo and instructor. If you have any inquires about his ability, commitment or moral character, please feel free to contact me at sdbul@verizon.net
Sincerely,
Professor, David Bulawka, Rokudan
President Kyudan Jiu-Jitsu Federation
