Reviews of Kevin Sullivan's Black Belt Karate School

I am 16 now, and took his classes for 3 years, and it is true that he is extremely harsh infront of the parents. He isnt a bad teacher though, I have defended myself with his techniques effectively. He acts tough on his students to train them to be stronger mentally. its kind of like getting forced to do laps until you vomit in track, or doing sprints in ice hockey. he was no joke, and has experience. the school was tremendously hard. but you didn't sign up for fun. you want your kid to be protected. trying to scare kids trains them to be fearless. If your kids are scared then dont sign up for a fighting class.

Just like the title says. Don't send your kids or any woman u care about here. The guy who runs this place is a real piece of work. I walked in to find him yelling at some poor kid. And then he turned his attention to a young girl and started actually flirting with her it was so disturbing! Don't send your children here unless u want them to know how to be a bully.

I still feel bad I ever brought my kids here Kevin Sullivan should not b around children!! He is a violent angry mean person who needs medication n to stop his unwanted advances towards all the married moms jus trying to pick there kids up.

My son has been attending Karate with Kevin since April. He has grown so much and become a more confident child. My son has Autism and has always been treated differently. Kevin treats him with respect and just like all the kids. In only 4 months, I have seen my child's confidence level increase. He is not afraid to be different......because he has learned that everyone is different and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Kevin has motivated my child to succeed in life and that there will always be a challenge, but giving up is not an option. We may fall and have a bad day, but we can "rise above it and give up". Keven has taught that they are individuals and they are beautiful, wonderful children, ALL OF THEM!

I would reccommend this place to anyone.

I joined Kevin Sullivan's kickboxing program in April. I have found NONE of the negative comments on this sight to be true. I have never found Kevin or his staff to be anything but motivational, encouraging and educational. They have always made sure we have the proper form while teaching us, they are continuously routing for us to always do our best. Not only in class but also out of class by discussing our mind set, nutrition, etc. I will say, he does not put up with rudeness or negativity and that is just fine with me.. I love it there and would and do recommend it to everyone I can get my hands on.. I love it.

I agree this isn't a positive school for kids. This guy Kevin is unstable , mean spirited, and violent, and shouldn't be around children. He is also known for ripping people off in town.

What u learn here u could learn more with one of those at home tapes. The only thing u would miss out on is some creepy owner twice ur age trying to hit on u. When I actually went to a real karate class everything I learn here was laughed at. I was soo embarrassed. What u learn here is a bunch of made up moves that don't even work. they weren't correct moves they werent even moves at all! Now I'm at a professional karate studio, only a few miles away and Im learning from people who actually compete for a living they don't jus make up moves n classes to get to ur pockets

All i can say is well said.... The reviews are spot on.... His stay here in Bristol is soon to be cut short. With more and more people learning his true nature im sure it wont be long before the town steps in and stops this type of unwanted behavior.

Our experience has been a truly negative one. He was more concerned about signing the kids up for a contract and pushing his marketing materials on anyone and everyone. He was rude, disrespectful and is not the right authority figure for kids. His place is messy and has been that way for years! I doubt he has good repeat business and has turned away more clients/customers than anything. Comments from other parents are similar. He has been known to argue with the parents and intimidate kids to the point of crying. Beware of this man and his establishment

Just not the place to send your children. Very confrontational place! How could people send their kids here unless you want them to learn how to be picked on, humiliated for fun, yelled at and cussed at by Kevin Sullivan who is suppose to be a grown man and a business owner the 2 seem to be a running joke in the community. Will never go here again or allow my children to be anywhere near this man. He can keep my money he seems to need it more than me.

Just a ridiculous class. My child didn't learn anything. Kevin Sullivan is known for ripping people off, even children. All he did was flirt with the mothers and insult the children my friend and I pulled our children out immediately even though there was no refund it was a small price to pay to get away from Kevin Sullivan and his "school."
