Programs & Class Schedule
KARATE
The Karate program is for the student who wants to learn the traditional martial arts. Learning Kata (pre-arranged movements against attackers) builds mind body and spirit. While you still receive a good workout, there are many other benefits, including concentration, discipline, perseverance, and self-control. Kenpo and Ju-Jitsu are used to practice self-defense. Sport Karate and traditional weapon forms are also available. The Karate class starts out with warm ups that consist of stretching and strengthening exercises. Following the warm ups are Kihon "basics" which practice punches, kicks, blocks, stances, and footwork. After practicing basics, the rest of the class is spent learning and reviewing Kata (forms), self-defense, and Sport Karate.
TAI-CHI
A student looking for a low impact workout that works the whole body will enjoy the Tai Chi program, with the emphasis on flexibility, balance, and internal strength. Tai Chi is a well known exercise to relieve stress.
Tai Chi class starts with warm ups of stretching, joint turning and internal strengthening exercises. The beginner class is used to practice the short form of Tai Chi (24 movements). The student is continuously reviewing the form and movements as well as breaking down movements of the form such as "White Crane Spreads its Wings". Advanced students learn the long form "Combined Tai Chi" and/or Tai Chi Sword.
KICKBOXING
Our Kickboxing/Mixed Martial Arts is a combination of fighting arts from across the world. It takes the best attributes from each style to form the best system of fighting. Keefe's Martial Arts combines Kenpo which focuses on quick hand movements, Karate for its power kicks, Tae Kwon Do for kicking combinations, Ju-Jitsu for locks holds and throws, and Boxing for its offensive hand attacks. The class is based on a Kickboxing cardio workout with the focus on self defense fighting (not ring fighting). John has also taken numerous seminars from world renowned martial artists to further his knowledge, he also visits many schools across the country to train and to teach.
