Programs & Class Schedule

KARATE KIDS (ages 5 - 12)
Many people recognize karate from its collage of colorful belts, board breaking demonstrations and often aggressive competitions. True martial arts, however, uses these tactics as constructive learning tools to teach life lessons. These lessons show children how to approach demanding obstacles with a proper mind-set, teaching them to win and lose with honor and self-respect. Schools are not educating children in how to cope with stress and anxiety, which inundates today's fast-paced society; nor do schools ingrain healthy habits of the mind and body. These life-habits require deeper learning than simple regurgitation of facts and information. Children must develop and apply their mental, physical AND emotional I.Q. in order to succeed in this society. Besides great exercise and self-defense training, Karate teaches children how to approach stressful situations with a calm heart that exhibits confidence, focus and compassion. This attitude lays the foundation for positive wellbeing, as well as developing the attributes of an effective leader.

ADULT MARTIAL ARTS
Kaikudo (pron. Kai-Ku-Do) is an advanced martial art system that integrates traditional Japanese style, Taido. Kaikudo demonstrates a broad range of footwork, body-axis movement, hand sensitivity and redirecting energy to maximize defensive and offensive strategies. In addition to martial tactics, Kaikudo develops the mind, body and spirit through physical fitness, mental focus and breathing exercises. Kaikudo is greatly influenced by the techniques and theories of Taido Karate, Judo and Taijiquan. Taido serves as the foundation for spacial combat with advanced footwork and body-axis movement. Judo and Taijiquan close the distance and introduce throws, traps and push hands. The diversity of movement creates a comprehensive fighting system that can be used by all types of individuals for practical self-defense. The technical aspect of Kaikudo does not rely on brute strength, rather correct form and centered focus to maximize effectiveness. Kaikudo students will ‘graduate' with valuable self-defense tactics, advanced movement coordination and a healthy mind and body.

TAI CHI
Tai chi and qi-gong are traditional Chinese exercises that protect against disease, aging and mental health problems. These ancient calisthenics combine graceful movements with slow, measured breathing that can effectively release unwanted stress and anxiety. In addition, each movement works as a self-massage for the internal organs and promotes healing by stimulating circulation in the lymphatic system. 'Qi-gong' is characterized by stationary, repetitive movements that focus on revitalizing particular organs and muscle groups. 'Tai chi' resembles qi-gong in its slow, concentrated movements; however, unlike qi-gong, tai chi is a martial art form that moves across the floor in a dynamic, meditative dance while rejuvenating the whole body. In summary, tai chi uses martial arts as a moving mantra to enhance neuromuscular memory, strengthen the bones and increase blood circulation to our organs. Beginners who practice tai chi or qi-gong immediately recognize a transformation in body and mind, including sensations of deep relaxation, increased vitality and improved physical coordination.

WOMEN'S SELF DEFENSE
A blend of personal safety and self defense that is specifically designed for the female body; created to be a fun and relational way to learn.
We believe that everyone can be equipped and prepared for situations that may arise that are threatening to you and your family. Regardless of age, size, or physical ability you can: 1) Learn to be mentally prepared and anticipate threatening situations, 2) Have the keys for de-escalation, 3) Have plans in place to protect children and family members, and 4) Be equipped with evasive and defensive techniques. Our goal is to build confidence and empower women and girls through participation in our events and activities.
