Reviews of Kaigan Karate-Do

My daughter (5 yrs. old) has been learning karate at this dojo since she was 3. From the first day, she instantly loved it, mostly because Sensei Jorge is phenomenal with kids. He is encouraging and supportive of each child's strengths and weaknesses, and offers so much fun to keep kids motivated to pushing past their limits. Sensei has truly helped my daughter's confidence to be in front of a crowd and to come out of her shell. We recently had her birthday party here at the dojo, and it was by far, the best party we have ever had or been to for a child. Sensei Jorge and his co-instructor Leah did a fabulous job of entertaining 15+ kids with lots of games, obstacle courses, and other fun karate-inspired activities. At the end, they both autographed a board that my daughter broke in half as part of the "birthday girl's keepsake". Sensei Jorge and Leah made her day so special, one that she will remember for years to come. If you are looking for a very family-oriented, professional and caring place for to learn martial arts, Kaigan Karate is it!

I have trained in quit a few different styles of Karate before going to train with Sensei Jorge Lopez. He has taught me more about self defense and proper techniques than all of the others put together. You learn something new almost every class and he teaches you how to get away from any attack that could possibly be used. I have learned so many things that I had never seen before. I would highly recommend his dojo to anyone who truely wants to learn.
