I usually do not post reviews, especially bad ones, since any business can have an off day. I feel though that people ought to be warned against USA Kick in New Hyde Park run by John Chung. He is disrespectful toward the parents and the kids, except when money is changing hands. Chung hounds the parents about paying annual tuitions months in advance - promising a bigger "discretionary" discount the earlier you pay, and if you pay in cash. The so-called "tuition" does not cover any other "events" that Chung decides to have though. Every party, movie showing, tests, competition will cost you money, amounting to several hundreds of dollars. For example, in this run down facility, he will bring in his camera, take pictures of the kids, and charge each parent $80 - $90 for the picture. Think you can opt out? Think again. I opted out once, and Chung pointedly excluded my child in front of all others, reducing a 6 year old to sobbing tears. I regret having my child attend, and would warn others from doing same.

My son had gone to his school for about 2 years. Always getting a constant push from Master Chung regarding early payment and signing up early. We then pre-paid tuition for the next Fall semester classes. In mid summer my son decided not take any more Tae Kwon Do classes and we informed Master Chung that summer before Fall classes had begun. He told us at that time that we could expect our full refund in early Fall. After a few failed attempts to get in touch with him during the Fall we finally spoke with him. He refused to give us a refund stating he didn't have the money and we would have to wait until the spring of next year and that there were another 10 people ahead of us also due a refund.
I do not recommend going to his school for Tae Kwon Do lessons. He has lost my trust and has unacceptable business practices.

He lied about the amount he was going to charge me, he qouted me a price of $1595 and when I went back 2 days later he said he qouted me $1695.00. I didn't have the hand written scribble he made with the qoute on it. After charging me he told me his summer schedule is different from his winter schedule. The flexibilty went from 6 days a week to 3 days a week. I had already felt uncomfortable around him and so this ended up being a good thing. He made the decision for me not to send my child to him.
