Japan Karate-Do Academy (JKA) is dedicated to the practice and promotion of traditional Japanese karate. The basic objective of JKA is to provide its students a means of developing a principled character while being strengthened emotionally, physically and mentally through the study of Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu karate.
Karate literally means “empty hand” and is a complete system of attack and defense using a variety of techniques based on blocks, kicks and punches. Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu is a traditional form of Japanese karate named after its founder (Soke) Teruo Hayashi and is recognized worldwide.
Shihan Matsuura is a former student of Soke Hayashi and has studied karate extensively for 40 years in Japan and the United States. He is a member of the Japan Karate-do Federation, the USOC sanctioned USA-National Karate-do Federation and the International Hayashi-ha Shito-ryu Federation.
