I took this class when the head instructor was living in Okinawa Japan. He is an extremely knowledgable guy with a true passion for martial arts. When I first began his course I was a true beginner with no previous training. I wasn't even sure I would stick with it. After attending the first class I was hooked. He does a great job at showing how kali and the other arts he draws from can be applied in real world scenarios, and seeing how he is also a trained police officer for the U. S Navy, I trust his judgement. If you are in this area and have the opportunity to train with him and join Integrated Kali Concepts I highly suggest it!
Rommel is a wonderful instructor, one of the best I've come across in 20 years of studying martial arts. The curriculum covers both armed and unarmed aspects of Filipino martial arts. Rommel forgoes the dogma that bogs down a lot of instructors in preference for applicable techniques. In short, he's low on b. s. and high on what works.
He also holds rank in multiple styles and incorporates what's effective. As an instructor, he can provide multiple ways of looking at something, which shows his understanding of the material, and tailors the lesson to fit the skill level of any student. Not to be missed.
