Imperial Valley Shoto-Kan Association
Imperial Valley Shotokan was established by Sensei Ricardo Acuna in 1980 in Mexico by Sensei Ayala 5th Dan and then transferred to California in 1984 under the supervision of Shihan Ozawa 8th Dan from Las Vegas. On June 1990 Sensei Acuna and The Calexico Recreation Department organized its first international karate tournament in Calexico,CA. bringing about 500 competitors to compete in different styles of martial arts togetter as one. Then latter Sensei Acuna joined J.K.A. Japanese Karate Association under Sensei Shojiro Koyama 8th Dan with Arizona Karate Association. Now we are one entity called Imperial Valley Shotokan Association with other Shotokan Karate Instructors. It is one of the oldest Karate schools in the Imperial Valley.
