Immortal Tiger Kenpo Karate
Kenpo is a style that is highly practical for self defense application. Fundamentals include an emphasis on no wasted movement and economy of motion. You will learn how to defend yourself against multiple attackers in real life situations. Concepts of Kenpo include blocking and counterstrikes to vital organs and pressure points with linear and circular strikes using intermittent bursts of speed and power. In addition, Kenpo also works on your core strength, balance and endurance.
Cat has been training in martial arts since 2000. She holds black belts in Karate (2004), Tae Kwon Do (2009) and Shaolin Kenpo (2016), and has also studied in American Kenpo, Small Circle Jujitsu and Iaido. She has been teaching for most of her martial arts career. In 2016, Cat moved to Austin, TX and founded Immortal Tiger in 2017. Prior to opening the dojo, the only Kenpo in the Austin area was American Kenpo, making Cat the first person to bring Shaolin Kenpo to Texas.

Programs & Class Schedule
Classes focus on the Kenpo Karate curriculum as taught to me by my instructor, Master Professor Bill Grossman. There is a heavy emphasis on practical application of all techniques learned and how they apply to the real world.
Our kids class (7-12 year olds) is from 5:30-6:30 pm and then the teen/adult class is from 6:30-7:30 pm every Tuesday and Thursday.
In addition to open hand techniques, as you get higher in rank you will also learn weapons such as the bo staff and the kamas. If you have an interest in sparring as well I also teach point sparring techniques and drills.
Typical belt requirements will have 1-2 katas per rank, 1-4 sets, blocks, kicks, with sparring and weapons required at intermediate and higher ranks. All katas are taught as both a standalone kata and as a kata done with an attacker for all the moves, something which differentiates Kenpo katas from most other systems.
