The Shoshin Ryu style is based on traditional Japanese martial arts, and embraces the idea of development and personal growth in training along with learning effective techniques. Core self-defense is taught with attention to practical and realistic self-defense situations.
People of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and skills train the art of Shoshin Ryu. Our art provides the opportunity to learn how to handle most any situation and the diversity of techniques to adapt to any body. Shoshin Ryu is open to everyone.
Sensei Shane Stetz has been training martial arts since 1992 at the age of seven, making him a lifetime student of martial arts. He earned a black belt in Sanzyuryu Jujitsu in 1999 and another in Shoshin Ryu Martial Arts in 2008. After training for five years with the Boise State Judo Club from 2003-2008, he brought his talents to Idaho Falls and opened the first Shoshin Ryu school on the eastern part of the state. He currently teaches Shoshin Ryu through Idaho State University and has classes offered to the community for adults and kids.
