Iaikai dojo is a school of traditional budo, featuring both iaido (traditional swordsmanship) and jodo (stick fighting). Both of these practices are non-competitive, intended impart skill as well as to foster a sense of meditative mindfulness.
We practice Muso Shinden Ryu iaido and Shinto Hatakage Ryu Iai Heiho, as well as Shinto Muso ryu jodo. All styles emphasize kata (form), both solo and in pairs.
Deborah Klens-Bigman is the instructor. She holds dan rakings in several styles of iaido, and was recently made Jun Shihan in Shinto Hatakage Ryu Iai Heiho. She makes frequent trips to Japan to train with her teachers and seniors, who represent some of the most accomplished practitioners in the world. The dojo website is www.iaikai.com.
