Great place to learn Naginata. It is an encouraging and supportive environment. The instructor is enthusiastic about the subject matter. He is able to break down the techniques so that they are easily understood. Students are engaged and learning throughout class regardless of skill level. Emphasis is on learning proper technique. The facilities are nice, but a bit noisy due to sharing the gym with other activities.

The art itself is very challenging and complex. The teacher can get you to connect the dots to easily understand what he is saying. The whole group is funny, laid back, and welcomes anyone to the group.

The Sensei at this dojo is absolutely wonderful. Not only does he know what he is doing, but he is quite able to put you at ease. He is a little goofy at times, and I find myself smiling fairly often, but I am learning something new every class I can get to. The only reason that I listed the facility as very good and not excellent is that because it is in the Manassas community center, there are sometimes people walking through the area that we use. This is a fairly small issue all told, however.
Enjoyable, no-nonsense, intense practice

Djinn sensei focuses on correct technique with a good division between striking practice, shikake-oogi forms, and shiai technique in bogu. The students are supportive and the sensei will inspire you to push through to your best. The only downside is that the practice space is a curtained off section of a very noisy gym.

The instructor is fun and great to learn from. He makes relatable instructions to help you understand what he is talking about. The instructor is a goofy-in-a-good way type of a person. All in all the dojo is fun, the people there are friendly so it is a lot of fun learning there.
The naginata group at Manassas Park is great and very supportive. Djinn sensei is a very capable and encouraging teacher, and the students are well motivated and supportive of each other. There aren't many naginata dojos in the US, so if you're interested in learning naginata, or want to try a not-very-well-known martial art, this is an amazing dojo to join.
