Great for all ages. I started later in life and studying Kajukenbo Tum Tai has been wonderful for balance, coordination, and self-confidence.

Quality self-defense classes and friendly atmosphere. Good group of students with no bullies or egos. Focus is on street-applicable self-defense and realistic responses. A blend of traditional martial arts training, but an emphasis on non-traditional and evolving training. These Kajukenbo (Tum Pai) and Tai Chi classes are the best Salem has to offer. The only improvements I'd suggest are regarding the rough facility conditions, although some people may feel it adds to the "street" vibe. They've done a wonderful job rehabbing the facility when they moved in, but the bathroom could use some attention.
Good solid experienced martial arts instructor, good workouts and no boring routines, a hard-style of fighting which makes sparring interesting and realistic and a big key point me is my age, late 40’s.
At Hood’s Martial Arts Academy, it is my experience that age is not really relevant to my development in martial arts. It just isn’t. I might not be able to lift my leg high enough to kick at someone’s head, but I know there are four other lower kicks to the knee, leg, groin or ribs that produce the same results. This the greatness of Kajukenbo and Hood’s Martial Arts. I do not adapt to the martial arts, rather the martial arts adapts to me. Your fighting style is developed by YOU and the instructor fills in the blanks and smooth’s the rough edges.
Take the risk at Hood’s Martial Arts and see the rewards in a few shorts months.
