My son has been attending this dojo for approximately 5 months. During this time he has learned so much. His love for karate is growing along with his skills. The instructors love and passion for karate is remarkable to see and it transfers down to each student. This dojo is also very affordable and a great deal!

A Traditional school

I have been a student of the Lincoln school for 16 years! Through being told that 'I can do it' and to keeping pushing myself, I have made great changes in my life since then. I not only attendance each class night that is available, but I also teach at the Clinton Dojo. Becoming an Instructor for Yoshukai Karate Alliance has been a huge honor! I highly recommend visiting our schools and seeing/hearing for yourself what our goals are, and they are not to make money, thus the cheap prices!

Traditional Karate is not dead here!

I have always wanted to study martial arts and decided to take the plunge at age 49! I have stuck with it for the last 2 years and can say it's one of the best choices I have ever made for personal improvement especially character development. I am extremely fortunate to have walked into this dojo and being allowed to train with these folks. Training is not a right, it is a privilege. This school is not about the contract, the money or the flash. This school is all about character development and preserving very traditional karate and NOT making a quick buck. Don't let the low fees or lack of fees fool you or lead you to believe it's not quality instruction because it 100% IS! Training, dedication and attitude are taken seriously and promotion through the ranks only goes to those who deserve it. The Lincoln Il dojo and Clinton Il dojo will accept anyone that is willing to try hard and train seriously with heart and soul. It has been both an honor and blessing to be allowed to train with these people. From day one I was welcomed into the dojo and it has only gotten better. This is a great system taught by excellent people!

Traditional Karate in Central Illinois

Hiroyuki Koda, a Yoshukai instructor from Japan, came to Florida in 1969 to help teach Yoshukai Karate under the direction of Mike Foster. Mr. Koda started a school in Lincoln, Illinois in 1971. In 1972, Dan Dugan began his karate training at the Lincoln Yoshukai Karate Dojo under Hiroyuki Koda.

Dugan Sensei is still teaching in Lincoln, Illinois the same traditional karate that was brought to the area in 1971. Top priorities are character development, learning etiquette, courtesy and respect while developing traditional "rough tough Yoshukai karate" physical techniques through rigorous training.

Very unique to have such a traditional foundation in a small town, we are very fortunate and I thoroughly enjoy my training here.

If you are looking for a place to simply learn to fight this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a place to learn traditional karate as well as discipline, self control, patience and respect this is the place for you. They know each student and train them properly, never pushing anyone through the ranks, if someone is a high rank here, they've worked hard for it and you know they are deserving.

We could not be more pleased with Sensei Dan Dugan and his traditional teachings!! The class teaches disipline, self-control, respect, patience, self-defense and most importantly character development!! Our children will use each one these now and through the rest of their lives.

We highly recommend Yoshukai Karate Alliance.

My son has been enrolled at Yokushai Karate Alliance for several years. We really enjoy the karate alliance as the instructors care for the whole person. In addition to being excellent instructors who emphasize accurate techniques and do not rush students through their ranks, they emphasize respect and politeness. Frequent social events are held, particularly for the children, in order to emphasize karate as one aspect of a well-developed life. Highly recommended!

Am impressed with the dedication and respect to the instructor by the students. The students and instructor are very polite and are very educated in the their knowledge of their studies.

No one was pushy nor did they present themselves as a money making scheme.
