Karate. Heiwa-do Karate is a self-defense system based of Shotokan Karate that incorporates key techniques and skills from Wado-Ryu, Goju-Ryu, and Shito-Ryu. This allows practitioners of Heiwa-do to be adaptive in self-defense and combat.
The core principles of Heiwa-do Karate are to give students Confidence, teach Discipline, Focus, Leadership, Patience, and Respect for oneself and others. When learning Heiwa-do Karate, you are not just learning self-defense, but how to be a model student and/or citizen to the community.
Heiwado Karate Center aims to evolve its self-defense system by using modern training methods and self-defense techniques. This means we are dedicated to ensuring that our techniques actually work and that we're not a "McDojo." By replacing traditional training methods with more practical ones, we want to be able to simulate and practice self-defense situations rather than just the techniques. So you won't see staged sparring or self-defense as you advance in learning the system.
