Hanalei Martial Arts is an eclectic mix combining the traditional Chinese arts of Tai Chi, Bagua, and Xing Yi with the renowned Okinawan Arts of Shuri, Naha (Goju), and Tomari. With over 50 years of study the chief instructor, Chad Deal, has also had extensive training in Aikido, Southern Chinese White Crane and Hung GarTiger/Crane styles along with Kobudo (weapons) and Okinawan Jujutsu. Sensei Chad is a lifetime member of the International Shuri Ryu Association and holds the following black belt ranks:

Shurite Bujutsu Kai; Sandan (3rd degree)
International White Crane; Sandan (3rd degree)
International Goju Kai; Nidan (2nd degree)
Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido; Nidan (2nd degree)
Okinawan Kobudo; Gakusha (2nd degree)
Sensei Chad is currently training under the guidance of O`Sensei Robert Bowles, head of the International Shuri Ryu Association.
