Han Dol teaches Soo Bahk Do, a traditional Korean Martial Art. This art founded in 1945 by Hwang Kee combines Korean, Chinese and Japanese martial arts styles with a rich cultural philosophy. Our classes are for people of all ages and abilities and are taught in a family friendly environment. Here you will face the most challenging opponent you have ever faced - yourself.
In addition to self defense, students take advantage of physical training such as total body conditioning with an aerobic workout, weight control, and improvement in flexibility. Some of the more mental aspects of training include stress management and the building of self-esteem. They learn to live the Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan way of life by learning to control power as well as unifying the mind with the body.
Master Frank Tsai (5th Dan) and Mr. John Sotherland (3rd Dan) ensure that all classes are taught by certifid instructors in a traditional format emphasizing discipline, character development, and meditation. Master Tsai has trained in the Martial Arts for over 19 years. Prior to attaining his masters belt, he was the United States Soo Bahk Do National lightweight sparring champion for 4 years in a row and won 1st place in the full contact continuous sparring division at the Battle of Baltimore. Some of the many styles Master Tsai previously studied included Japanese Karate, Caeporia, Jiu-Jitsu, Tai-Chi, Wing Chun, and wrestling. He also regularly practices Astanga Yoga and enjoys break dancing in his free time.
