I have been a member for about two months and feel entirely different than I did before I joined. The reason is entirely due to the Masters. Master Hamilton is exactly what you would expect in a martial arts Master/Instructor: taller, older and way more intimidating than you. He is also one of the best old-school gentleman you may ever meet, he knows the names of all of his students and keeps track of everyones' progress while incorporating ways to improve their techniques to the next belt level. He allows his black belts to assist in running the class/studio while all members are able to compete in tournaments. There are two other Masters and numerous black belts of various degrees or "dans". Children the age of 4 to gray-haired adult members attend class at any time and enjoy following appropriate Tang Soo Do traditions within the dojang, including learning the Korean terms associated with the art. Students learn a variety of kicks, hand techniques, floor fighting and weapon-handling styles along with traditional Tang So Doo "hyungs" or aka "forms".
I feel so much more prepared to be approached in an aggressive way in an situation now whether on the street or in a close space, even if the attacker has a knife/hand weapon of any sort. Master Hamilton teaches you to react and to simply think quicker than whom ever your opponent may be, and most of the time your biggest opponent is yourself. I learned how to enhance my physicality, which in turn enhanced my mentality and is why I hold this studio with such high regard. I've seen what the experienced students here are able to do, it makes you want to be one of them and possibly some day like Master Hamilton.

Would it help to know that Chuck Norris is a 9th Dan in Tang Soo Do? He and Master Hamilton are not so different.
