I put my grandson into Martial Arts with Dwayne Botts several months ago. It was the best decision I have made. I was concerned if this would be something that my grandson would be able to do. Even with his ADHD he is doing well with staying on task and when he gets distracted Dwayne can get him back on focus. I checked out a few before bringing him to Gin-Ryu and just did not get that family vibe they all seemed very commercial. Dwayne wants all his students to do well in life and in Karate.

Looking for a school.

My son has been attending Gin Ryu, under instructor Dwayne Botts for a little over 3 months. He love to attend and learn from Dwayne. Dwayne cares for each of his students and loves to teach them about traditional Okinawa karate and it's history. Dwayne knows his stuff that is for sure. Great school and great teacher.

Our son has been under Shihan Botts' training for two months and in that time he has not only learned some key basics that are instrumental to his continued growth, but he has developed a love for the art of karate. The instructor takes his time with each student to ensure that he or she is learning both the physical techniques and the knowledge intertwined within the history of karate. We travel from outside of Richmond because we want our son to learn from the best and we believe we have found just that at Gin Ryu!

This is a top-notch school and the quality of instruction is exceptional. I have been very impressed by the owner/instructor's wealth of knowledge and his dedication to teaching martial arts. He genuinely cares about each student's learning experience and takes the time to help them develop their skills and Shotokan knowledge base. His students seem to thrive under his tutelage; developing good form, technique and self-discipline. I highly recommend this school to anyone interested in karate-do.

My son has been under the instruction of Dwayne Botts for almost five years he his a 1st degree Jr black belt and he currently holds 10 first place positions and 3 second place positions, his manners have always been good but iv seen nothing but improvements since he has started!! His confidence is at an all time high and his physical attributes are undeniably excellent!! We will never leave Gin Ryu silver Dragon for it is the best karate school in the county!

Ok, I joined, in this crazy world I figured I better learn to protect myself. Shihan Botts is very professional, that man CAN teach! I get overloaded a lot, but wow!' The way he taught was so easy to understand, educator. That's the word! I can't brag enough on the training but the bonus was, I met my best friend! Thanks shihan Botts for remembering me on my birthday! Not many did, and your not paid to do that! ! Found this page and wanted to thank u personally. But when I found leave review. . I've been to almost every location in Richmond, and by far Gin Ryu has the best facility and Instructor. There are no contracts and the Instructor genuinely cares for each and every student. We are so thankful that we found this place. If you're interested in traditional Karate training, then this place is a must see. Check it out for yourself!! You won't be disappointed.
