This school is great, I drive from Wilson 3 times a week to attend because what I get out of it is worth the hour drive. Both of my parents were martial artists so I have been into and loved the arts since I was a child. I have studied TKD, Shotokan, Jujitsu, Kickboxing, and Kung Fu. Me, I study the arts for self defense, to defend the life of my friends and family and here I get the added tools to do that. This is not a "traditional" dojo, bowing upon entrance is optional and respect is not measured by bowing to the instructor so is not required. Classes are spent teaching the student the fastest and most efficient means of stopping and disabling an attacker. Training is very personalized in that Soke Cobb works with each person's body mechanics and we are not taught that this is the way we have done it for 1,000 years and it worked for the founder of our system so it will work for you. This is one of the few schools that welcomes me challenging why are we doing this? What effect will this produce? I have even on occasion asked the instructor to prove it, witch he is always prepared and willing to do with no hard feelings (I will not go down as a courtesy). Children's classes strongly enforce character development and respect, my daughter loves it. This is a self defense school so it is not about finding your spiritual inner self and finding peace, I go to church for that. Soke Cobb is a great guy as are the people I work out with in his class. Everyone is made to feel welcome and part of the group weather you are 18 or 80. After shopping a lot of the schools in the area this I have to say that as far as training for a survival situation on the street this is the school you want.
