A Great Club to visit

Stopped in for a visit while on business and was welcomed with open arms. This was the first time I trained outside my home gym and I hope every experience I have outside my gym is as good as this one. Brian and the rest of the team here greeted me with a warm welcome and chill vibes. If your in the area and are looking for a club or just stopping by through the city I strongly encourage you to stop by and get some mat work in. Thanks again Brian and the Gator Pit team.

I've been here for a long time and this place is my second home and the people here are my second family.

Great instructions Generally for self - defense, but does not discourage you from training tournaments, and the people will help every step on the way too.

I was initially very intimidated to try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu seeing as how I am not particularly strong or athletic. I had heard great things about the art itself but I wasn't familiar with anyone else in Gator Pitt. I assumed that it would be full of monsters waiting to kill me. Thankfully that wasn't the case. Everyone else there recognized how nervous I was because they too remembered how nervous they were when they first began. The more I trained the more I improved. The more I improved the more confident I became. I am certain that the me of today is better equipped to defend myself than the me of 2 years ago. If nothing else it is a crazy experience and I'm proud to say that I did it.

Excellent Kids and Adult Classes

My children have been training at Gator Pit for 2 and a half years. My two boys are 14 and 11 and my daughter is 9. I saw the benefits almost immediately when they started training there. Their confidence has sky rocketed and they have improved in their other sports as well thanks to Gator Pit. John, Matt and Brian are very knowledgable. They are strict, but fair. There are all levels of ability and athleticism and i have seen kids that had zero balance and athleticism make 100% improvements in the matter of a few months.

I started training with the adults class about a year and a half ago. I have worked out my entire adult life and jiu jitsu is by far the best all around workout i have ever done. Brian is an excellent trainer and there are several classes available. He brings in high level black belt instructors about once a month or so to put on seminars and these are very beneficial. I would recommend jiu jitsu to anyone who wants to just get in shape or to anyone who wants to get serious about learning an effective martial art and i would send them to nowhere other than Gator Pit.

Gator Pit BJJ is a quality and affordable school

My son began BJJ at Gator Pit 2 yrs ago. I spoke with Brian, we made a visit to observe a class, he tried a class and we signed up. No contract, just a handshake and payment. I have watched Eli develop in this art. His confidence and athleticism have improved. He has made new friends with kids and adults alike. It is not a tournament school but focuses teaching the art for real life application of self defense. Tournaments are not discouraged nor are they the main focus. If you want to compete they will assist with you with your goal but there is no tournament team. Brian is also sensitive to the value of a dollar. There are no testing fees or any other extra fees. You train and are promoted as you reach the next level, which takes a different amount of time for everyone. Kids class divides instruction and training equally, 30 min of instruction and then 30 min of training. The quality of instruction is very high. Your child learns in a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Currently kids train every M, W, and F. If they are adult size, like Eli, then training with the adults is an option. So that gives him 3-14 opportunities to go to class and open mat each week. So skip the happy meal, sign up for BJJ and come check us out. It's more affordable than you realize, healthier, builds confidence and gives you a peace of mind that your child will be able to protect/defend themself if needed.

Gator Pit changed my life. It filled a huge void while I was just sitting at home wasting away. Brian is an extremely knowledgeable instructor with a massive amount of hours and work put in to the school and each student. The atmosphere is family friendly with no gimmicks or hidden fees. The school takes care of all belt promotions. Everything is earned. Each student is also encouraging to new students or just anyone willing to try and learn. We all help each other out and are pretty laid back. We train hard while having fun at the same time. The kids program is top notch and are also trained like adults. No games. No silly obstacles to run around. Everything is bjj oriented taught the traditional way. You definitely get what you pay for in this school. Highly recommended to change your life for the better. All are welcome.

I'm a black belt, every few months I stop by and train. Over the past few years I've been really impressed by the growth of the gym as well as the students, while avoiding the "belt factory" trend.

I highly recommend gator pit as the best place to train in Shreveport. Great atmosphere and good energy. If your a beginner, its a great place to start! I always leave sweating and smiling!

My daughter has been taking the kids class for almost 3 years now. We could not be more proud of her and this school. Her self confidence is through the roof but still has the respect and discipline to be an amazing person. The school has become part of our family. We understand that some parents we have spoken to were a little worried when we suggest to them to put their daughter(s) in something like this but when we explain the outcome and the knowledge they will receive, they instantly take a different look. There's no better way to teach kids self defense along with anti bullying. They have the most amazing coaches who have so much patience with the kids. We love this place and will continue to promote and support it. Thanks for all that they do for our daughter and one day train our other daughter.

I have been training at Gator Pit for a little over three years now. I've seen a lot of people come and go for various reasons like financial, schedule commitments, and moving away. In the years I've been training I've heard tons of people say "man I'd like to try that" or "I wish I started that when I was younger". I've never heard a person say " I wish I never tried jiu jitsu" or that it was a waste of their time. Jiu jitsu is a journey and Gator Pit is a great place to start.

Having been an athlete my whole life, I decided to try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the first time at Gator Pit. My experience with Gator Pit has been life changing. I am very thankful to have started my BJJ journey here and this will always be my home. I can't say enough good things about Brian Andrews. Quality person and instructor. He sets a great atmosphere and the brotherhood is second to none.

I've been training at Gator Pit for 5 years. Brian Andrews is super talented and knowledgeable. He will make you feel welcome and comfortable from the first time you meet him. One of the best things about this school is the schedule. You can train almost every day of the week if you want. We have a fun, easy going atmosphere where everybody is buds. There are no egos and everyone is working to make each other better. Come give it a try I guarantee you'll be impressed and glad you did.
