I've studied karate here for 9 years, my sons studied for over 10 years. The instruction is excellent. The price can't be beat: $40/month (there are no contracts you have to sign to commit to any minimum amount of training, it's pay-as-you-go). There are two main classes: youth (from 6-year olds to 11 or so) and adult (11-and up). Kyoshi Garrett and Shihan Tomlin are excellent instructors; they demand discipline but they make sure everyone in the class knows that their success is important to the them. If you are willing to put in the effort, they can teach you to anything. This is not a "buy a a belt" dojo; you work and earn your ranks, your knowledge and skills matter when you test, and you are held to a high standard of proficiency. But there is no limit to what you can learn here. The school also has a friendly atmosphere where all the students get along and support each other. I am a teacher by profession and I have never seen a better teacher than Kyoshi Garrett.

Garrets school of karate has a great atmosphere. All the instructors take their time to work one on one with every student in kid/adult classes. I highly recommend this school.

I spent about 3 years at this place and learned very little. At the time I didnt know any better because it was my first experience with martial arts. 1 month of training at a legitimate martial arts dojo is about the same as the three years I spent there in my opinion. Anyone with any basic knowledge of karate would figure this out pretty quickly. Unfortunately there are lots of people being taken advantage of by these types of places that dont know better. I would advise checking out other places and research them.

I am a law enforcement defensive tactics instructor and have attended classes at this dojo since I was in college. The techniques taught at this school are taught in an understandable way and may save your life. Overall the instructors here are knowledgeable and personable, and the other students make the learning environment a posative one. Also it is hard to beat $40 a month.
