if you want a good workout join Fred villari's. If you want to learn martial arts don't join Fred villari's. First off I want to see the teachers at the Fred Villari School in Torrington Connecticut are overly sensitive and have very thin skin. to give you an example, one day I asked Master Horan what his first name was his response was "MASTER". REALLY?? Is your sense of self and your self-worth that week that you need people to call you master instead of by your first name really? The other teacher there MISS Moore, is serious bitch with a serious attitude. Another thing that makes this school a joke for martial arts as you have to pay to get your belt. In addition there are people there who are black belts who definitely do not deserve a black belt. The form of these black belts, particularly MISS Moore, is absolutely horrible and even downright funny. One thing I think these teachers at Fred villari's are disillusioned about is they think because they have a black belt they know how to fight. There's a huge difference between knowing karate and knowing how to fight and these people don't know the difference. I'm pretty sure I can kick this s*** out of any of the 'black belts' in there. The main instructor, Matt Horan actually believes and stated that mixed martial arts is not applicable to real fighting LOL! I guarantee anyone who trains in MMA for just 1 year would beat the hell out of ANYONE at villaries who has been there 5 years. Anyway, the main moral of this review IF YOU WANT A GOOD WORKOUT, JOIN VILLARIES, IF YOU WANT TO LEARN HOW TO FIGHT, GO ANYWHERE ELSE.

I started studying with this system back in the 1970's and it is still going strong. I stayed with it for over 25 years; earning the rank of Third Degree Black Belt and would still be in the martial arts today if not for my osteoarthritis, My Sensei Harvey Thaler had long retired in the system so I traveled quite a distance to be taught by Master LeCours because I knew he was one of the best.
